Has The Drop In The Economy Hurt You? It Has Me!

July 19, 2008 – 9:00 pm

Upside down in their house; driving an SUV at 14 miles to the gallon; and living on a fixed income.  Does this sound like a familiar story in today’s economy?  Should folks feel sorry for themselves and hate God for letting them fall into this economic quagmire?  Well, they could, but I do not think they would be impressing God one way or the other.

If you have been keeping up with our Blogs, you’ll remember who controls the earth and the air.  That’s right, you remembered that Adam and Eve sublet the world to the devil, Satan.  So, Biblically, he is known as the “prince of the earth and the air”.  This means all bad things that happen on the earth are generated by Satan, as well as all things generated in the air – i.e. hurricanes, air plane crashes and such.  Does God have any control left at all on the earth and in the air?  Only through true believers (the good seeds that fell on fertile soil) (Matthew 13:3-9Matthew 13:3-9
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: 5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. 9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

) can He work His mighty acts and miracles.  He will use the bad that Satan creates for ultimate good if we will but seek His Justice and Love (Ephesians 2:1-5Ephesians 2:1-5
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

2 1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. desires: Gr. wills 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by...: or, by whose grace

Okay, based on the above, what do we have to assure us that God is here to help?  Well, let’s look to His Word. Many of us are facing what so many others are facing today – and quite possibly a lot worse!

What are some of the things written in His Word than can reassure us of His care, concern and presence in our lives day to day?  In Galatians 5:22Galatians 5:22
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

we are told that when we allow the Holy Spirit to control our lives He can produce all sorts of “fruits” in our lives.  Does God recognize the poor with any special gifts and concerns?  (Isaiah 25:4-5Isaiah 25:4-5
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. 5 Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.

) He recognizes the “needy in distress” and He shelters us from the “storm.”  He protects us from “the oppressive acts of ruthless people.”  In Hebrews 13:5Hebrews 13:5
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

He warns us to stay away from the love of money.  He reassures us of His faithfulness if we will but follow his instructions.

In Romans 8:35-37Romans 8:35-37
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

we are warned not to trust the trickery of Satan’s world, but to hold fast to Christ’s Love and our belief in His control of our lives no matter what happens to us in this world.  Who else is there to protect the poor and needy?  In Psalms 35:10Psalms 35:10
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

10 All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?

WP-Bible plugin
that very question is asked.  In Psalms 40:17Psalms 40:17
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

this question is answered.  Further assurances for those of us that are still doubting, please read Psalms 72:12Psalms 72:12
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.

.

Just believing there is a Supreme Being and not believing He is here to stand by you and support you in the most difficult times prevents Him from taking the “bad” that is afflicting you and showing you His Love for you by leading you to Salvation and worldly resolution.  I know that is a terribly long sentence, but what I am trying to say is, “Believe in Him and He will save, follow Him and He will lead you to happiness and resolution!”

Finally, what can we expect for our future if we place our faith irreversibly in Christ through God’s Holy Spirit?  Well, it is stated very clearly in 2 Corinthians 9:82 Corinthians 9:8
English: King James Version (1611) - KJV

8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

.  God will give us enough to meet our needs and more.  But the more is not for us to “fritter away” (a Southern term meaning “to waste.”), but to help others.  This is how He works through His believers to assist and raise up others from the depths of poverty.

My Brothers and Sisters in Christ, you have to 110% claim the answer to your difficulty – financial or otherwise.  It will get scary when nothing happens right away.  Fear and doubt (and we KNOW who that comes from) will creep into our hearts, but we must reaffirm our claim to God’s riches and solutions. It is the believer (even when occasional doubts creep in) that secures the wondrous benefits of God’s Love.  It is the believer that stands strong in that belief, no matter what life and Satan throws at him or her, that wins in the end and is given a NEW BEGINNING!  Do not let the “doom and gloom” of the newspapers and TV mis-direct your belief and commitment to your God.  Do not let the “nay-sayers” mis-direct your faith and trust in your Holy Jesus and God’s Holy Spirit sent especially to you as a believer.

He trusts us with the Life of His Son, should we not trust Him when He awaits to resolve our worldly difficulties?  You and I both know the answer to that question – let us this very day go out and use this Godly Trust we have been given!

My Brothers and sisters, I claim wellness, happiness and financial safety for each and everyone of you at this very moment in the name of our Jesus and through God’s most sweet and beautiful Holy Spirit, Amen!

Until we join again in His Name, may your days be Blessed and successful in His Love!

In Christ’s Love,

edd
